We quite often see on forums questions as to why one rebuild is dearer than another, and there are many explanations for this, how many new parts are used, was it built in a shed or a fully equipped garage, is the warrantee worth the paper its written on? There are also subtle differences in the way its prepped and put together.
Most people will have there favourite tuner ill informed or not.
Here's a small insight as to how RoTechniks engines are built and handled.
Once an engine is stripped it has a quick wash in our metal bath with spirits and cleaners, rotors go in to a acid bath, they all then go in to our giant washing machine a bit like your dishwasher at home only much bigger, if there is any porting this is carried out and then again back in the engine washer. I believe we are the only rotary specialist to have this. The engine parts are put through 3 cycles of the engine washer to ensure its as clean as possible before going back to the bath for finishing by hand, rotors get polished on a polishing wheel. We believe the preparation is as important as the quality of the parts used. This process can take up to 3-4 days in prep before even being ready for assembly.
All parts are inspected and measured for tolerances and if in tolerance will be reused, if not no second guessing whether they will be ok, they are replaced.
Royal Purple Max Tuff is used for the installation of the new parts, some re-builders will use vaseline, but it can effect rubber seals especially if left for any periods before fitting, vaseline also does not offer any protection on initial start up. Max Tuff's load bearing barrier film lowers friction prevents metal to metal contact, ferrous & non-ferrous. Displaces water from metal surfaces.
We also try to have a much quicker turn around than some, by trying to keep engines on the shelf we can often replace your engine and have you back on the road within days rather than weeks.
All these processes are carried out in purpose built rooms so the dirt from the cleaning room and the dust from the porting and polishing room do NOT contaminate the engines being built in the engine room.
We offer a standard 2 year or 24,000 mile warrantee, subject to our terms and conditions. ie its serviced at correct intervals, all modifications are carried out by us or approved by us and all tuning is carried out by us. As you can appreciate we cant be held responsible for others modifications or tuning.
If all servicing, modifications and tuning is carried out by us then we are the only company to my knowledge anywhere in the World that offer a 3 year or 36000 mile warrantee.
